What is BTEC?
BTEC (Business & Technology Education Council) is certified by Pearson Group, the largest certification organisation in the UK. Pearson is one of the most successful and most popular learning brands in the world. The BTEC qualification certificate has helped many students improve practical work skills, interpersonal communication, and critical thinking skills for more than 30 years.
BTEC courses also pay attention to the needs of employers and provide career-oriented qualification certificates to help students take the first step in career development or entering university.
There are more than 1.7 million registered students in the global department of BTEC, and their academic qualifications are recognized internationally and in Hong Kong.
BTEC Higher National Diploma（HND）
These two years long courses provide opportunities for access to higher education, and students with an HND can enter directly into the third year of a university degree programme. They are also a powerful platform for development or employment, as well as a starting point recognized by professional institutions of learning.
The HND courses are recognized and accredited by the UK’s qualifications and credits framework (RQF), the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), with at RQF Level 5, which is equivalent to the associate degree in Hong Kong. After completing these courses, students can choose to enter a local or overseas university for further study。
BTEC Higher National Certificate（HNC）
Students who have obtained an HNC can usually directly enter the second year of university degree programmes and continue to receive higher education. Students can also progress to HND Level 5 courses after completing the HNC course to obtain a higher level of professional knowledge in the selected field.
Progression and recognition
The BTEC British National Advanced Series of courses have obtained the British Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) level, which is equivalent to Hong Kong’s associate degree and advanced diploma levels. Students can continue to university courses locally or overseas after graduation
